JAMAICA CUSTOMS UPDATES OF ITEMS NO LONGER REQUIRING TRADE LICENSES

The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) is advising the public of the Amended (2019) List of Items, which has been updated in the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA), no longer requiring import or export licences from the Trade Board Limited (TBL).

The JCA has further indicated that while these items no longer require licences, where applicable, traders must obtain the requisite permits or letters of approval from the relevant authority.

Below is the list of items from which import or export licences have been removed, and their accompanying HS Classification Codes (Tariff Codes).

IMPORTS

The following items no longer require import licences from the TBL:

Plants and parts of plants (including seeds and fruits) of a kind used primarily in perfumery, in pharmacy or for insecticidal, fungicidal or similar purposes, fresh or dried, whether or not cut, crushed or powdered — HS Code 1211.2000.00 to 1211.9090.00

HS Code 0511.9990.10

Eggs (N.O.P) — HS Code 04.10

Shells — HS Code 05.07, 05.08, 96.01

Antique furniture — HS Code 97.06

Paintings (antique) — Paintings, drawings and pastels, executed entirely by hand, other than drawings of heading 49.06 and other than hand-painted or hand decorated manufactured articles; collages and similar decorative plaques — HS Code 9701.1010.00

Ores, slag and ash — HS Code Chapter 26

These following requires an approval letter from the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology (Commissioner of Mines) for exportation.

Petroleum products — Tariff headings 27.09 to 27.15

The following requires an approval letter from the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology (Commissioner of Mines) for exportation.

Pimento — HS Code 0904.2120.00, 0904.2220.00
